Get your free estimateMighty Mule Access Control Installation: The West Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Mighty Mule-compatible access control systems throughout West Palm Beach, with most complete installations running between $950 and $2,400 depending on your gate type, keypad or reader choice, and whether we’re running new power or reusing existing conduit. Same-visit diagnosis is standard, and the written price lands in your hand before any part gets ordered or any wire gets pulled. Most owners call us after the keypad goes dark, the remote works but the keypad doesn’t, or a storm leaves the board clicking without opening the gate.
Mighty Mule control boards, keypads, and receivers sit outside in South Florida air. Salt, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms shorten their lives faster than the manual suggests. We see it weekly in neighborhoods from Flamingo Park to the gated communities off Okeechobee Boulevard: a keypad that worked fine in April quits in September. The part number matters more than the brand name here, so let’s walk through exactly what fits what.
Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To
Mighty Mule makes several control board families, and they are not interchangeable across every gate. The MM371W, MM372W, and MM571W single and dual gate openers use one board series; the MM562, MM572, and newer RB741/RB742 heavy-duty swing gate operators use a different control architecture entirely. Before you order anything, take a photo of the model sticker on the side of the operator arm or the back of the control box. The board inside will also have a revision number printed in white silkscreen, something like “RB709U Rev B” or “MM-BX42.” That revision number determines which keypads and receivers will pair without modification.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: Mighty Mule OEM boards hold their programming better in our experience, but the aftermarket equivalents from Aeco and GTO-compatible suppliers often carry the same warranty at 30 to 40 percent less. We stock both on the truck and we’ll tell you the honest difference before you spend a dollar. One compatibility gotcha we see often: the Mighty Mule FM135 and FM136 wireless intercom/keypad kits only pair with the newer RB-series boards. Owners with older MM-series operators need the wired MMKP keypad instead. Mixing those up is a very common, very frustrating mistake we’d rather you avoid.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Mighty Mule Access Control Installation Is Failing
- Keypad lights up but the gate doesn’t move. The keypad is talking to itself fine, but the control board isn’t receiving the signal anymore. Usually a worn relay on the board or a corroded wire connection at the terminal strip.
- Gate opens from the keypad but not the remote, or vice versa. The board’s receiver channel has failed for one input. That points to a specific internal component, not the whole board, though many boards are replaced rather than re-soldered.
- After a heavy rain, the keypad beeps twice and nothing happens. Water has found its way into the keypad housing or the control box seal has cracked. West Palm Beach’s summer deluges expose this within one season.
- The gate starts opening on its own, or refuses to close fully. The safety sensor input or the loop detector circuit is getting phantom signals. This is the most dangerous failure mode, because the gate can close on a car or a child standing in the path.
- Buttons need to be pressed hard or repeatedly to register. The keypad membrane is failing. It’s replaceable on some Mighty Mule models without replacing the whole housing.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In West Palm Beach, a Mighty Mule access control keypad replacement typically runs $180 to $340 installed. A full control board swap runs $320 to $580 depending on whether you need the MM-series or RB-series board. Complete access control retrofits with keypad, receiver, and wiring upgrades land between $950 and $2,400, the range driven by gate type, power run distance, and whether we’re converting a manual gate to powered entry at the same time.
Every quote includes the part, the labor, and the wiring terminals cleaned and re-sealed against weather. Before any work begins, you get the written price and we both know exactly what “done” means. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the installation: if it isn’t right, Latch and Post Gate Repair West Palm Beach makes it right. No argument, no fine print. We’ll show you the old part before it leaves your property, and you’ll see the new part working before we pack up.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely do two things before calling: check that the breaker for the gate is on and dry, and look at the keypad for visible water inside the lens or cracks in the housing. That’s worth five minutes. What you should not do is open the control box if you’re not familiar with low-voltage DC wiring, because a Mighty Mule board carries charged capacitors even with the breaker off, and the wrong bridge between terminals can burn a working board and cost you more than the service call.
The job usually takes our technician between 45 and 90 minutes, including testing the safety sensors and running the gate through three full open-close cycles with the new part in place. Call (728) 203-0817 and tell me what it’s doing and what it stopped doing, that’s usually enough to get started. A live person answers, any hour.
FAQs
We see most Mighty Mule control boards last 4 to 7 years in West Palm Beach, with the clock starting on day one of exposure. Salt air and humidity accelerate corrosion on the terminal strip, and surge events from summer storms are the usual final blow. Boards protected inside a sealed, shaded enclosure with a surge protector on the power line tend to reach the upper end of that range.
Sometimes. If the issue is a cracked membrane or a corroded wire connection at the keypad, we can often repair it for less than replacement. If the internal chip has failed or the housing has taken on water for weeks, replacement is the better investment because the repair won’t survive another wet season. We’ll show you the diagnosis before recommending either path.
Most Mighty Mule keypad or board replacements in West Palm Beach are finished in 45 to 90 minutes. If we’re running new wiring or converting a manual gate, allow a half day. We’ll tell you the time window before we start, and the written price won’t change once we begin.
Yes. We carry Mighty Mule control boards, keypads, receivers, and the most common aftermarket equivalents for the MM-series and RB-series lines, along with LiftMaster, Ghost Controls, and DoorKing parts. Most West Palm Beach jobs are completed on the first visit because the part is already in the truck, not ordered and re-scheduled.
