When a Ghost Controls gate part fails at the hinge, bracket, or arm mount, fabrication work is usually the fix. We stock Ghost Controls-compatible weldments and fabricate replacement brackets and mounts on the truck for most residential models. Installed pricing in West Palm Beach typically runs $185 to $420 depending on the part and how much fabrication the frame needs, and we can usually have it done the same afternoon you call (728) 203-0817.
You’ll know it’s a fabrication issue when the gate still opens but sags at the hinge, the opener arm pulls loose from a cracked mount, or a fractured weld leaves the gate rattling every time the wind pushes on it. That rattling is the sound of metal working against metal, and it gets worse every cycle.
Which Ghost Controls Models This Applies To
We fabricate and weld for the entire Ghost Controls residential line: the AXDP, AXD, AXXP, and TSS1 series, plus the earlier Dep[arture] and Ghost Pro models that South Florida homes still run. The mounting plates and hinge brackets on these units share similar dimensions across the line, but there’s a compatibility gotcha worth knowing: the bolt pattern on the AXDP series post bracket is offset by half an inch compared to the older Pro models. A bracket that looks identical will not line up, and bolting it down anyway is how cracked mounts happen. The part number is stamped on the bracket itself, and we match that or take a measurement before we cut or weld anything.
OEM Ghost Controls brackets are fine but light for Florida fence life. We fabricate heavier-gauge steel replacements when a bracket is the repeat-failure point, and we stock quality aftermarket equivalents for most common bracket and hinge plates. You choose the path, and we show you the price difference in writing before anything gets ordered or cut.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Ghost Controls Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
- The gate sags toward the free end. The hinge weld or bracket is fracturing. Ghost Controls hinge plates are thin, and in coastal West Palm Beach air they corrode from the inside of the weld first.
- The opener arm pulls the gate but the leaf shakes on every cycle. The bracket or weld holding the arm has cracked. The opener’s torque is finding the failure point and working it wider.
- A new creak or groan when the gate moves. Metal-on-metal noise that wasn’t there last month means a weld is opening up. Lubricant won’t fix a fracture.
- You can see daylight through the bracket or hinge plate. Once a weld cracks through, you’ll spot a visible gap that wasn’t there when the gate was installed. It usually starts as a hairline and widens fast.
- Chain or belt tension changes between uses. If the Ghost Controls unit re-tensions itself or the limit setting drifts, a shifting mount or bracket is the likely culprit behind the scenes.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Most Ghost Controls bracket replacements run $185 to $260 including the part and labor. Custom fabrication work, where we’re cutting and welding a new steel mount or repairing a fractured hinge assembly with the gate in place, runs $280 to $420 in West Palm Beach. The honest variables are how much rust has spread, whether the post itself is still sound, and whether we’re working with the gate hung or taking it down to weld flat.
We lay drop cloths and wear shoe covers if we’re working inside your garage or near finished surfaces outside, and we photograph the cleanup before we leave. Every quote is written and agreed before any work starts. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the weld and the part, and if the fix isn’t right, Latch and Post makes it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the obvious: look for cracked welds, rust lines at the bracket base, and whether the mounting bolts are still snug. What you shouldn’t do is weld on a gate that’s under tension from a Ghost Controls opener still attached to a powered circuit. The arm can move when the controller thinks it’s at its limit, and a gate leaf that shifts while you’re welding or grinding is a crushed-finger or worse scenario. We disconnect the opener, pin the gate, and work with the leaf braced. That’s the part worth paying for.
If the bracket is cracked or the hinge weld is going, call (728) 203-0817. We’ll tell you what we’d do and what it costs before we touch anything.
FAQs
In West Palm Beach’s salt air, stock Ghost Controls brackets typically hold up 4 to 7 years before corrosion or fatigue cracks appear; gates near the Intracoastal or with no tree line break that range sooner. Our fabricated steel replacements are heavier-gauge and consistently outlast the OEM plates in the same spots. Call (728) 203-0817 for an exact quote, and we’ll tell you what we’d expect based on where your gate sits.
Some brackets can be welded cleanly if the steel around the crack is still thick and dry; many Ghost Controls brackets are too thin to weld well and we replace them with heavier stock instead. We’ll show you what we found in writing before anyone fires up a welder. Estimates are free.
Most Ghost Controls weld and bracket jobs are done in 90 minutes to 3 hours, including disconnecting the opener, bracing the gate, and testing the full cycle before we leave. Same-day visits are available for most fabrication work, and we’ll give you a time window when you call (728) 203-0817.
We stock Ghost Controls-compatible hinge plates, post brackets, and opener arm mounts on the truck, and we fabricate heavier-gauge replacements on-site when the stock part is the reason you’re calling us a second time. We also keep parts on hand for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and DoorKing systems since those brands show up on a lot of West Palm Beach properties. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with Ghost Controls, which means we repair with the best available part rather than a company-mandated one.
